1. Types of Faux Fur: Which One to Choose?

  • Short-Pile Faux Fur: Features a low, dense pile. It is very popular for sewing vests, jacket linings, or as a luxury material for soft toys and blankets.

  • Long-Pile Faux Fur: Characterized by long, rich hair. It is ideal for collars, hood trims, pom-poms, or bold decorative pillows.

  • Faux Rabbit Fur: An extremely delicate and silky fur that you won't want to stop touching. Excellent for luxury bedspreads and accessories.

  • Cozy "Minky" Fur: A soft material with embossed patterns or a smooth surface, ideal for the little ones.

2. What to Sew: From Fashion to Home Decor

🧥 Winter Wardrobe

  • Vests and Coats: A faux fur vest is a timeless piece that elevates any outfit.

  • Accessories: Hood trims, fur collars, leg warmers, or cozy headbands.

  • Pom-poms: Create your own pom-poms for hats, exactly according to your vision.

🐶 For Our Four-Legged Friends

  • Dog and Cat Beds: Faux fur is exceptionally popular for sewing pet beds. Animals love its softness, which reminds them of natural warmth. Plus, beds made from our fur look like designer accessories in your home.

  • Travel Blankets: A soft mat for a pet carrier or the car ensures maximum comfort for your pet during travels.

🏠 A Cozy Home

  • Decorative Pillows and Blankets: Turn your living room into a warm sanctuary.

  • Toys: Create original plush friends for children from the softest materials available.

3. Sewing Tips: How to Master "Furry" Materials

Sewing faux fur has its secrets that ensure a professional-looking result:

  • Cutting: Never use standard scissors across the entire material! Cut only the backing fabric from the reverse side using a rotary cutter or a sharp utility knife. This prevents cutting the fur fibers and avoids unnecessary mess.

  • Pile Direction: Before cutting, check the direction of the pile (it should always point downwards). Cut all pieces in the same direction.

  • Tucking the Fur: When sewing two pieces together, tuck the long fur hairs inward (between the right sides) so they don't get caught in the seam. After sewing, you can gently pull any trapped hairs out of the seam with a needle.

4. Care: Keeping the Fur Fluffy

  • Washing: We recommend gentle hand washing or a machine wash on a delicate cycle at 30°C. Do not use fabric softener, as it can cause the fibers to stick together.

  • Drying: Never put faux fur in the dryer and do not wash at high temperatures. Air-dry the fur by laying it flat.

  • Brushing: After drying, you can gently brush the fur with a soft-bristled brush to restore its volume and shine.

  • Ironing: Strictly prohibited! High temperatures could irremediably damage (melt) the synthetic fibers.
